iPod Classic not recognised whan connected to iTunes and related problems

Every time I connect my iPod classic to iTunes (Windows 10) it is not recognised. iTunes then freezes after a while of trying it is recognised by iTunes. You can see every thing on the iPod but you cannot sync it.Then I have to restore the iPod but you cannot reload music etc. as the sync box has been unticked during the recent update. then you can reload all your music which takes about 8 hours. WHY! Is it because Apple do not want anyone to use their iPod Classics any more or what. 😠

The iPod can cope with several thousand reallocations but any pendings can cause erratic behaviour. If these contain part of a song it isn't too bad as the device will skip on to the next track, but if part of the database or a folder is stored where it cannot be reliably read back then that will cause problems. Try reformatting the drive to release those pending sectors. The min & max temperatures probably indicate a serious crash at some point has written random data into the CMOS area.

Hi Just to let you know I have formatted the iPod once again a fifth time in just a few days. It usually takes up to 8hrs to reload but did it this morning in just over an hour!

Smart Data from the iPod;

Retracts:360

Reallocs:687

Pending Sectors:4

Power on hours:224

Start stops:363

Temp:current 24c

Temp:Min 45c

Temp:Max 253c

I think this may mean hopefully my hard drive may last a little longer?
